I agree with the OP about avoiding plastic for the front door because it can look cheap. Tactile feel plays a big role here, simply a sense of quality. I probably wouldn’t even recognize a good foil on the neighbor’s door or somewhere else where I’m standing outside, but for me, it’s my door that I like to go in and out of several times a day (not a cheap side entrance door) and every time I feel it and think it’s great. And when I get bored with it, I can spice it up with paint.
As for window frames, especially inside... I don’t even notice them. Some people have curtains on the left and right anyway, we don’t... but I’m more interested in looking out the window than at the frame. When I clean, I’m glad I can wipe them properly.
P.S. Our house has now been standing for the 5th year with gray foil-covered outer frames (north, east, south, and west). And everyone who is not involved in house building thinks it’s wood. Although inside it’s white and smooth (smooth, not glossy).
On the subject of gloss: last night I paid attention to it with our floor lamp by the window. It looked matte from the sofa – only when I went over there did I see a smooth, let’s call it satin, surface [emoji4]
