Ok understood. That is, of course, a special situation with self-cultivation, vegetarianism, etc.. I would say your way of eating and situation is certainly not representative and therefore not comparable to the average consumer and rather an extreme example.

But we do allow ourselves a lot of luxury when it comes to food (in my opinion). We drink a lot of tea (especially black and green). It is Fairtrade and organic. We buy quite a bit directly from the Demeter farmer. Milk is almost exclusively plant-based milk, which costs 1€ per liter, or Demeter milk for 1€ per liter. So also far from the 50-cent supermarket prices. More expensive lentils are probably only found in delicatessen stores. Above-average pasta prices. Really a lot of fruit and vegetables, which are not exactly cheap either. But what you obviously also have to consider is that our two kids are only 2 and 4, so they don’t eat full meals yet. Yes, we are not standard, but I always thought that the costs we have for food, due to the high quality and thus not cheap products, should be somewhere in the middle range...

Well, where you see "expensive" lentils and pasta, others buy meat. That is already a world of difference in terms of cost ratio. Besides, lentils and pasta are cheap items. They could cost three times as much and you would still be eating very cheaply compared to, for example, meat eaters.

My children are 2 and 5. The little one drinks half a liter of milk a day without any problems. The older one now eats 2 rolls for breakfast. One of them is a seeded roll. And no, he is not overweight.

Oh man, am I the only one in the entire forum who does not follow the organic craze? I buy cheap meat and like to use ready-made products for cooking. I prefer to spend my time with the family rather than in the kitchen. Especially today on the holiday... I still remember from my childhood that the adults were in the kitchen for hours and then had to wash huge piles of dishes by hand. After that, the silverware was polished. Terrible, and woe betide you if you criticize, then you are the villain who ruined Christmas. No... I'll just finish the roulades (8€/kg [Edekea Angebot]) and calmly use sauce powder. The dumplings and red cabbage just need to be warmed up.
