I was not referring to a machine park from the bygone VEB Anno Tobak or the then ridiculing of building biology. Rather, I have the impression that some small carpentry businesses on the way to becoming general contractors are repeating the clumsiness of the pioneers back then. Yes, of course that is an advantage if a company "is liable" with the sound of its family name – did you understand something negative about that?

No, I probably misunderstood the part about small businesses and being skeptical.

100% organic at any cost is not the motto either. But as far as possible. And without forced ventilation.
I think we are on a good path here. My initial question was mainly about how to classify all the wooden houses. Or if they are all the same. My thought was partly that a "real" wooden house can only be a Canadian log house.

No, it can also be solid wood.

You have solid wood houses, massive wood houses, and timber frame houses with different fillings of the panels. In between, there are also one or two other variants. How is the house ventilated that you have planned? No matter what the wall construction is, the houses are very airtight and somehow have to be ventilated. Even the houses with "breathable" walls pass the BlowerDoor test, so they are very airtight.

At the moment not at all. And to be honest, we want to avoid it if possible. According to the carpenter, they do not install ventilation without an explicit request. Actually, this issue is also what bothers me the most during our planning phase. I would prefer a 90s building with manual ventilation. What did you install, if I may ask?

Solid wood, passive house, ventilation system.

Ventilating manually works, but we are not at home that often. In addition, heat recovery is missing.
Window rebate ventilation takes care of ventilation but no heat recovery.

So ventilation system with heat recovery. I would always do that again. The house is automatically ventilated and windows can always be opened. In winter, there is often no reason [to do so]. After showering no foggy mirrors, the toilet is relatively odorless, smell from the diaper bin is not noticeable.

The new houses are airtight. Especially when the carpentry work is done cleanly. No poorly fitting window, no electrical outlet tornado, nothing.
Without controlled residential ventilation, higher values may be achieved, but the carpentry certainly does not work more “sloppily” just because the builder allows it.

Why don’t you want a ventilation system? How do you want to heat?
