They are electric but have switches to operate them.
I am not in a hurry early in the morning, I walk calmly through the house, open everything, already look outside, enjoy the garden, listen to the birds chirping... coffee comes afterwards, completely relaxed.

I want to answer your question like this: We lived for almost 9 years as a couple (then as three) in a KfW40 apartment built in 2007 without a ventilation system, i.e. manual ventilation through windows/balcony doors was mandatory and often necessary. Without ever having spent a longer time in an apartment/house with a ventilation system (central/decentral), we know exactly what we do not want. This can also be followed in the thread under yours.

Enviable! Time and serenity, irreplaceable by anything :) Except maybe by "no appointments and slightly tipsy".

We built a Kfw basic standard house in 2017, so about 70, without controlled residential ventilation. The house has triple-glazed plastic windows with RegelAir slots and in the bathroom a Helios exhaust fan that constantly sucks air out of the house, which is replaced by the rebate ventilators in each window. Conclusion. Always nice clean air, no smell, no draft feeling, cheap and functional. What heating costs are apparently not that huge, since we spend 60,- Euro per month on gas so far. But that can increase, which has nothing to do with the ventilation, but with lead in the air in the southeast.

Controlled residential ventilation is pure comfort. Financially, it never pays off....not even close.
Not having to air out is very practical. We have many plants in front of the windows. Always moving them away and back is annoying. Many also can’t tolerate cold drafts.
Also very practical for drying laundry.
In summer, you can bring cool air into the house overnight. Also very pleasant.
My conclusion:
Not without ventilation in new buildings, whether window frame, decentralized, or centralized, is a budget question.

Unless you count the time spent manually opening and closing the windows as work time. ;-) For some here, that would probably add up to quite a "salary". :) While for Motorradsilke and me it's "wellness," so we would rather have to pay for it. :)

: I hope I may write it like this.

Dear Hampshire, YPG and Pagoni2020, please come back. You are really needed and missed here.
