The common denominator is timber framing. The rest is different. The wall structure you mentioned is not "cost-effective." Ask 5 small carpentry companies and you will get different structures. Own installation level is good. Without it, I would not have chosen timber framing. Some charge an extra fee for it.

Thank you, that's feedback. We are now waiting for the offer for our draft and will see from there. We are quite impressed because the company works with almost all of our personal favorites of the trades from our region, whom we would have also chosen in direct contract. And if it also works out well interpersonally, the whole thing would have a positive effect on the conscience. Even if in the end there might be a little more at the bottom right.

In the "prefabricated house" there is practically an integral insulation system instead of the external thermal insulation composite system, basically similar to between-rafter insulation.

The difference between the big names and the regional providers is generally that the latter are not vultures and no franchise systems, but owner-managed and accordingly have to take better care of their reputation, since it is not cleared by legal departments. Therefore, I would prefer stone on stone regionally. In the prefabricated house scene, the small manufacturers are unfortunately often barely more advanced than the big ones were fifty or sixty years ago. With exceptions (notably Wirlebenhaus and Staudenschreiner), I am therefore skeptical about the small timber builders.

Would you be so kind as to explain that in more detail? If you mean CNC-controlled systems, those exist as well. Max 10 houses per year, which to me means nothing is rushed. And above all, I see the argument about reputation as an advantage, regardless of the type or manner.

With small ones, I mean really small ones, I would rely on the reputation. The small ones build to the best of their knowledge and conscience, the big ones have more experience, more personnel specialized in key areas. The ones you mentioned cannot be compared to the small one. The small one has a high-quality and higher-priced structure.

There are then many more differences in detail if you want to build not only with wood but also „Bio“. Even the ingredients in OSB boards make significant differences. Insulation materials have already been mentioned. Those who do not take the standards as the benchmark for quality but rather have thoughts that go beyond for healthy living will either dig into it or look for a special provider. Sparer may smile.
