We have [Stulp] in our terraced house, where we still rent. We don't use it very often, but putting out the patio table or bringing in new furniture, taking out bulky waste, etc. would sometimes be very difficult without [Stulp]. The second door opens very quickly and easily with one hand (2 hinges open). In the new building, we will have a sliding door as well.

We also always leave the 2nd door open sometimes to get the wide clothes drying rack through. We got ourselves a wider clothes drying rack because the narrow one always had to be secured from falling over with heavy stones due to the wind.

Hello Alex,

For a usual size of 2.01 x 2.135, the design without a central post is now standard; therefore, I consider your provider’s concerns to be unfounded. Only from a window dimension of 1.135/wing upwards – due to the weight of the window as triple glazing – is a mullion not the worst decision; especially when laminated safety glass (VSG) is involved. The warranty period will also be covered by a window of this size without a mullion, but after that...

Edit: Mullion replaced by central post.

Edit 2: Mullion:

**This profile attached to the sash divides a window invisibly into two or more parts. The mullion profile is part of the window sash and opens with it. The mullion is not fixed and is therefore also called a loose post.

** borrowed from Veka®

Best regards from the Rhineland

Hello construction expert,

I am a bit confused right now. Stulp refers to the fixed central post, right? Windows without this central post are called [Stulpfenster]? Because one window takes over the function of the stulp, or why?
When you write without stulp, that means without central post, right? Our window is even a bit smaller, 186 cm rough construction dimensions, so about 90 cm per sash. The dimensions should not matter.

Regards,
Alex

Hello Alex,

argh - fell for it again, sorry; replaced "Stulp" with "Mittelpfosten" ops:

Yes. Among other things, that's why you have to specify when ordering the windows which sash you want to open first!

Yes.

Then it's absolutely no problem to do without a fixed Mittelpfosten!

Rhenish greetings

We only opened the second half of our double-wing patio door to carry bulky items (clothes drying rack, furniture, etc.) in or out. Opening it is really no big deal. Little red lever up and the door opens. We have never regretted it.
