Regarding ETICS: They basically last forever, unless they are deliberately destroyed. At least in the case of EPS. Even the very old ETICS systems from the 70s still hold up... and during renovations, they are usually not removed but simply have a new layer applied. How should polystyrene that is not exposed to weathering break down, as long as it was not installed completely incorrectly....

There is also a nice study from the Fraunhofer Institute (hope linking is OK) with the key message: "The aging behavior and maintenance effort of facades with ETICS are no different than those of conventionally plastered exterior walls."

Solar thermal is also not profitable. You only take that if you want gas, because without it it is no longer approvable. Just take an air-to-water heat pump. Or a ground-source water-to-water heat pump with trench collector if drilling is not possible.

Or a planner with whom you plan the building and an energy consultant who plans the system technology.

Here is another post with a calculation example on the topic of storage

By Solar I meant photovoltaic, not thermal. Collector probably won't work either. The energy consultant has to do it. We are currently a bit flustered with all the bad information.

Then let the information sink in. 70 and 55 are okay, 40 is idealism.

But is an investment in a KFW 50 house never worthwhile?
If I roughly calculate the subsidies compared to a KfW 70 (Energy Saving Ordinance 2016) house:

- KFW loan per residential unit 5% repayment grant plus 0.75% interest
- 10,000 Houses subsidy (Bavaria): For heat pump (only ground source, air-water heat pump is not actually subsidized) about 2 k€ or pellet heating (1.5 k€)
- 10,000 Houses subsidy (Bavaria): Achieving a 3L house: 4.5 k€ or for a 1.5L house 9 k€ (also per residential unit)

I’ll leave out the heating subsidies from the state because you get those with or without KFW 50 certification. That depends on the heating system.

I would then claim that an investment in an energetically "better" house CAN be worthwhile.

Or am I seeing this wrong? We are facing exactly the same decision.

I would appreciate feedback on this!

Leave that part aside for now and recalculate. In addition, the 0.75% interest rate at the KfW also only applies to a 10-year term. There are numerous factors to consider, e.g. whether you build with or without a basement. But the actual savings will probably be very low; the 55 standard will not pay off because of that.
