I will try to soften it a bit with my own words: It was not about the fact that the frame vents do not fulfill their actual purpose or do so insufficiently. They do that very well, but as already hinted above, not only air passes through them but also everything that is transported with it: sound just as much as odors. ;) That is why I stick to the opinion that they are completely out of place when increased sound insulation is required.

I can understand this argument. But this then concerns interior doors that have the corresponding special properties, right? That probably won’t be our "standard developer" model.

Yes, exactly.

Hmm ... If that were so problematic, would manufacturers still offer such things? Our planner apparently sees no problem at all. The exhaust air is discharged downward in these units and the outdoor air is sucked in straight above.

Oh, I’ll have to find out about that, I don’t know it yet for the property.

I will address this again. Thank you very much.

The point is that if sound insulation is important, any air gap is counterproductive. Of course, there are higher-class soundproof doors, but even a simple model is immensely upgraded if you follow the above-mentioned tips, which doesn’t cost anything extra. If you then add a drop-down seal underneath (costing about 50 EUR), you’re already quite ahead. Only the ventilation must be planned accordingly, otherwise, you’ll have issues with overpressure, noise, etc.

Manufacturers or sellers first offer everything that doesn’t directly cause problems, and it can also work. But as said, you should pay attention to the wind direction and keep a certain distance. As a builder, I would still question such a solution critically.

Oh yes, locks are of course just as much a weak point. For example, you can use doors without a drilling for the lock to eliminate that as well.

That is then too much of a good thing in the private sector. One doesn't have to exaggerate. Unless one really wants to build soundproof rooms, but even that is rather unusual in the private sector.

All just IMHO.

A door without a lock does not cost extra, so I am happy to include it. ;) However, we have not planned this for all rooms, only for those that really benefit from it.
