In the sixties, a full renovation means everything is junk. Plumbing, heating, windows, doors, electrical. Simply everything.
Oh, then you were probably misunderstood – it sounded like an advertisement for the great idea of cheaply "shooting" a house at least on the level of the sixties.
In principle, you can just tear it down and rebuild. You have a nice developed plot for little money.
Demolition and disposal costs are greatly underestimated. Most people imagine the "value" of a house at worst symbolically – but that it can reach considerable negative heights is often overlooked. You may be diligent and fearless, have capable helpers and even a buddy with an excavator – but do you also have a buddy with a landfill?
