Funny whiny - it's not as if those willing to build under black-red super-duper were doing well and the plots were forced on them at a dirt-cheap price.

I just wanted to give an update in this thread:

In the meantime, as advised here, we have indeed already contacted financial service providers to discuss and simply prepare the financial framework. I primarily work with Interhyp. The budget looks quite decent, and our savings are growing by another 3,000 each month. We are actively looking for plots of land; I even wrote a small tool to grab new housing developments from two of the relevant portals with municipal offers and make them more searchable ;) At the same time, I am still looking for options on the open market. We would still prefer Baden, but the supply is simply a disaster. When I look at some listings in the north or even east, doubts arise. On the one hand, we still don’t have the pressure to act immediately; on the other hand, I’m really itching to get active, and our 2,000 monthly rent would be better invested otherwise. Patience has never been my strength...

Due to the school age of our children, it would actually be great if we could move into our own house in 2 years, but hitting such timing is difficult.

If you want to move directly into your own house in two years, then you need to hurry. We will have taken almost exactly two years from the reservation of the plot to moving in – and we did not dawdle.

That's how it is. Two years go by quickly when building a house, nowadays more than ever.

Yes, the two years are only the optimum. We understand that it probably won’t work out. We are not aiming for it directly, although on the other hand, we are already looking very actively and realistically, even if we wanted/had to make a move immediately, there is hardly anything suitable in the preferred region. But maybe a suitable offer or an allocation in the new development area will suddenly come up. We are also already considering whether to put our regional focus more to the back.

I thought family was the reason for coming? I would think carefully about moving to the North or East just because of a house without having any connections there.

What do you mean by options on the open market? Only plots or also existing properties? Only internet portals or knocking on doors?
