Is it appropriate to "rush" and become active as quickly as possible, or better to "weather the storm," wait until a few aspects relax a bit?

Due to the school age of our children, it would actually be great if we move into our own house in 2 years, but hitting such timing is difficult.

Observe the situation calmly and have a realtor search according to precise specifications. If you still want your children to be compatible with an international school system (who knows what interesting assignments await you), let them attend an international school. Buying a house is not a final act if the means are available; you have no reason to stress, especially since at your age and in your industry you can expect further pay raises or jumps.
