Hello Hilaria,

I am currently putting together a photo book of my construction, bringing back memories

You are the first person who doesn’t mind when something goes faster than agreed. Do you want to take time off for your entire construction to look at everything? You will see enough, WITHOUT being there!
Also, nobody calls you all the time to clarify something with you! Why would the earthworker want you to be there?

In any case, I wish you all the best for the beginning of the construction!

And always stay relaxed, other things will surely come up for you

hello perlemann, no, I don’t always want to be present because I have a BU as a general contractor. Only the earthworks contractor is a special case, as much of this is done on behalf of the client. Since I had no chance to get another earthworks contractor, as already described, I had to accept his prices, which are partly 100% above the competition. However, I didn’t manage to organize another earthworks contractor in time. Since the earthworks contractor doesn’t really "trust" our soil report (regarding the quality of the soil), he said it would be good if someone was present. If the quality stated in the soil report is confirmed, we would get a better price. However, this passed me by, which I somehow find unprofessional and also unfair. Somehow, this confirms to me again that agreements are not being kept – honestly, if I did that in my work, I wouldn’t last long in my company.

Hello,

What exactly do I have to understand by covering plates?

Kind regards

Oops, my post is probably gone.

So it’s probably correct to say
"Lay the sidewalk with steel plates"

To protect the sidewalk on which the truck is standing.

Hello,

Thank you for the belated explanation.

Earthworks contractors are clumsy and not businessmen; that's how it starts. If the work as a whole is done according to the soil survey/surveyor, it should not be a problem for you. Surely your site manager will help you here.

I wouldn't want to call it "picky," but rather "overshooting the mark."

You yourself write that you didn't reach anyone and therefore don't know whether the earthworks contractor will reduce the invoice item "steel plates" on his own or perhaps lay more. Wait until you have spoken with him/his office – and remember: it is not uncommon for craftsmen and businessmen to talk past each other.

Getting upset beforehand – before a problem has even been named – won't help you; heavier burdens may come your way during the course of your construction project, if you’re unlucky. Also wait for the earthworks contractor's response regarding the soil quality ... it will also spare your stomach.

Kind regards

mh, construction expert, well, I don't know if the site manager is interfering here. The removal and the disposal site had to be commissioned independently by us, so it’s none of my BU site manager’s business.

I just don’t find it correct that a day was agreed for the excavation and now they just started, why can’t someone just call briefly and say: "hey, we’re coming today," that’s all I want.
Honestly, I don’t think that’s too much to ask since this task is our responsibility.
For example, we communicated the same to the neighbors, the other DH.

Anyway, now it’s too late, but I’m still curious about the invoice.

It can always get worse, I am aware of that.

I just work in an industry where correctness is very important, and just with the offers, it makes my hair stand on end, they don’t even include the company’s address!!!
And they are signed without i.V. or i.A. by random people... tsk... I don’t know...
