I have just asked the mentioned local TE for clarification on what the current construction status is with him.
Since you are building with Heinz von Heiden, I recommend reading the threads by ;-)
Otherwise, I hope I am misunderstanding your question: do you seriously want to save on an experienced expert - especially if you suspect cunning on the part of your general contractor - and scratch around yourself in critical places?
Are there "actually" tips/tricks/focal points for the building acceptance where you almost always find something, possibly not really obvious?
I also want to avoid that right before the acceptance date something is spruced up with an "anti-mold paint" or the like, or that openings/coverings remain closed until years later.....
