Attic conversion with a 25-degree hip roof - a sensible project?

Hello forum,

we are faced with the decision to purchase a large bungalow with 200m² of living space. Despite this large living space, there are only 3 rooms and we are missing 2 additional rooms (children’s rooms) for our family. We want to exclude dividing the rooms with drywall, as the floor plan (distribution of windows, position of the hallway) does not allow this very well. The bungalow is very well maintained (and only 8 years old) and seems coherent in its layout.
The question now arises as to what potential this bungalow has for expanding the attic. The building has a base area of 22m x 12.5m.
Are there home builders here who have already carried out an attic expansion with a 25-degree roof pitch? Are dormers a must or would, for example, floor-to-ceiling Velux windows also provide a good room atmosphere? How much usable space could we generate?
Another question also concerns the costs of such a project. Would 50k be enough or is that too tight?

Thank you in advance for your experience.

Are there plans for the bungalow?

As the saying goes, "can't" does not exist.

In my opinion, not feasible with 50 k. What does the roof structure look like? Rafters or trusses?

With 200 m2, the floor plan should be adjustable.

Here for clarification with a marked 2 m line.

This results in a height of just under 2.8m for the roof structure. But you only have that directly under the ridge, and a lot of that is lost for the floor construction. In the edge areas, you have very little height. A generous sense of space will tend not to develop there. Regarding the costs, I consider 50k far too tight. You have to change the thermal envelope, install a staircase, several roof windows... then most of the budget is already used up. We haven't even talked about dormers. In addition, you have to convert it into living space: electrical, heating, floors, painting work... I would also fundamentally advise against taking a huge house that doesn't fit and trying to force it to fit.

Thank you very much for your contribution. Attached is the floor plan. We urgently need a study in the house that can be closed off with a door. A utility room is also indispensable (laundry/storage), and a bedroom for each child (2) would also be a must. Since my family lives farther away and visits frequently, a small guest room would also be great (if you decide to invest a lot of money). At the moment, guests sleep in the living room, which greatly limits everyone's privacy. I cannot imagine how adjustments would have to be made to the floor plan. In the double garage, it might be possible to partition off a part as a utility room. That way, there would still be 2 children's rooms... maybe a guest room simply isn't feasible if you say 50k is too tight a budget for the expansion. 70k would be our absolute maximum for this.
