Hello House Construction Forum,

We are more or less just about to start finally, and the surveyor has sent the data to our architect.
Now we have a problem with the reference height: our building window starts 7m from the property boundary and the bottom edge of our garage is at about 4m height according to the architect’s information, so it is impossible to make a reasonable driveway directly into the garage, slope about 50%.

Do you possibly have any suggestions on how to keep this within a reasonable scope without making switchbacks to the garage entrance?

I have attached the architect's pictures.

Thank you very much and best regards, Anson

Clarify with the building authority whether the garage can be placed outside the [Bebauungsfenster]. I don’t see a reasonable solution within the [Baufenster]. A serpentine or digging even deeper sounds a bit like folly.

Spontaneously, only two solutions come to mind: an exemption for a garage outside the building window or to lower the garage by one and a half meters, then it would have about four meters of room height and the basement would have to be redesigned. Or to keep a certificate from the building authority in the SUV stating that it is unfortunately needed.

What was the architect's idea? I mean, it's nice to plan a house with an internal garage on elevated ground, but then only think about the access afterwards?

Apart from that, of course, you could also put a car lift in front of the garage.

Because of the driveway, which is not straight even from above, it would be slightly more expensive than both cars.

But the price wasn't really the topic, right? .. you’re looking at around 50 euros and up
