I am very IT-savvy and also quite familiar with software. If I enter the floor plans of the building into one of the common home builder programs from bhv&Co, it takes me about 30-60 minutes and I have to search for the functions I need.
My assessment:
An architect does not work with common home builder programs, but with expensive CAD programs. Training, knowledge, and brainpower as well as software and hardware and fixed costs (rent, electricity, etc.) must be factored into orders and hourly wages.
Okay, it’s about the calculated hours: since entering and revising construction plans in CAD is not a home builder thing, it takes longer. In addition, a permit-applicable drawing must be produced, for which the architect has to work out and organize quite different things. Which ones, we laymen probably cannot understand in any industry.
When I think about the fact that the statics also had to be submitted with the building application for our carport ... ... any doubt is therefore unnecessary?!
