LOL - How is a utility supposed to handle that? It only works if YOU as a consumer, in return, pay a significantly higher electricity price for regular power. So you want a subsidy for a heat pump and on top of that a subsidy for the electricity, even though the heat pump is already cheaper to operate than gas/oil. That doesn't add up.

what do you mean "how is an EVU supposed to handle that"? Expansion of alternative energies like wind power, hydropower is not exactly a topic from yesterday!

Who says that a heat pump is cheaper in existing buildings than an oil or gas system?
You must not only calculate the system costs but also the partly high costs for the energy-efficient renovations that come with it.
Not to mention the investment for the system itself.
So far, I couldn’t convince my parents to spend 30k+ to install a heat pump.
If the heat pump tariff were capped at 20 cents/kWh, the whole calculation would look completely different.

this here is from yesterday, but unfortunately I can’t continue reading due to missing subscription:

If the real costs of fossil (and nuclear) energy were allocated to their consumption, there would be no need for subsidies for renewables. This would also automatically make heat generators that rely on fossil energy unattractive. But this is a governmental task. Ensuring that owners have an incentive to switch to modern heat generation, even for existing buildings, is a state responsibility. CO2 fees for landlords are already heading in the right direction but are far too complicated. And small landlords must also be protected. Actually, the cart has already been stuck in the mud. I am actually in favor of retroactively passing on all environmental costs (and also health-related ones) to the companies (here I also mean the EVUs). If they then go bankrupt – nationalize them. Energy supply should be in state hands anyway. You just have to make sure that no career politicians make the decisions, but experts (and by that I do not mean managers known from the private sector).

You can find this message in a less sensational form (Springer Press is anti-heat pump) on other news sites as well. Just try googling Habeck and heat pump, possibly with a time filter.

Now would probably be the time to stagger the heat pump electricity price over time, cheap during off-peak hours (heating the house up) and expensive during peak hours. That would be a sensible political decision. Crises create solutions

But you would also benefit from the energy-efficient renovation with another heating system. For me, this is typically German again. Wash my fur but don’t get me wet. Calling for "green electricity," but of course it should be cheaper. Raising the price of fossil electricity is of course not possible because electricity is expensive. So the state should conjure up money and maintain the wonderland where the house is renovated for free and heated with cheap heat pump electricity. That doesn’t work. The state can only spend money that it has collected elsewhere, that is, through taxes. But nobody wants to pay those either.
