My point was to remind you that there should be not only reserves for car repairs but also for the purchase. And these 150 - 300,- € per month (with BMW probably the latter) and per car should definitely be taken into account!

So my basic statement only applied to new construction. But of course, everyone should individually decide whether that makes sense. For an existing building, I would naturally also form reserves.

Back to the car though, clearly always leave reserves for the purchase as well, since something could suddenly come up after buying. But just because I can do some things myself doesn't mean I don't build reserves for the car—I do. Only, in other words, I have to use less of those reserves to properly maintain the car.

Maintenance, taxes, and insurance are a separate item of approximately €100 - €150/month.

Taxes and insurance for most? I don't think it's that much. Many who are a bit older are floating around SF 30 or so, plus at most partial coverage.

Wear parts (tires, brakes, belts...) are also part of maintenance because these parts will almost certainly have to be replaced sooner or later. (Washing is not included, by the way, that falls under hobby!)

And even with SF30 you have to stretch quite a bit to get below the (deliberately set low by me) €100 per month. Anyone who keeps honest records (Spritmonitor) will not disagree with me, I think.

An average compact car, driven an average distance, costs €500 per month (buying, owning, driving). You can’t argue with that. That is half as much as the credit many here pay per month and should therefore urgently (and honestly) be included in the calculation.

350 E-Class comprehensive insurance costs 70 euros per month with SF30. Even with taxes, I don't get over 100 per month. How is a budget car like a VW Golf supposed to cost over 100? I consider 500 euros monthly cost for a compact car to be set too high.
