We take at least one aerial shot every year and have maintained a quite impressive before-and-after database since day one. I will upload something as soon as the final plans for the building application are ready.

Hello, is there anything new here? I saved the thread in January because I find your project really exciting!

Hello, yes, now there is something new to report. We have received the building permit for our project and also a really good construction financing under current conditions as well as the approval of funding. In a few days, official construction will begin. Although it took almost three years from acquisition to the start of construction, we used this time extensively for construction planning, clearing out and gutting as well as the demolition of some of our originally eleven building parts (approved). At least it didn’t feel like three years to us – maybe because it has become more of a hobby than work for us by now. Unfortunately, not much of the old stock remains in the residential building. The roofs could have been repaired with great effort. We ultimately decided on new roofs and the construction method with solid ceilings and ring beams. The old wood from the roofs is being reused in decorative elements in the house. We also saved the thousands of beautiful old bricks and are using them to clad a large part of our facade anew. Over the past years, we have learned a lot on our construction site, contributed an enormous amount of personal effort, and now look forward to entrusting the project to our friendly contractor and observing the erection of the shell construction until in a few months we ourselves join in again with personal effort. I am very grateful that we are ultimately actually allowed to build. It was worth trying and not giving up. And all of this without any trouble with the authorities.

oh that makes me happy, it would be great if you keep us updated, you don't see something like this here every day … you didn't want a floor plan discussion?

Floor plan discussion? Sorry, I was never really very active in this forum. It is simply important to me that other desperate people from rural areas and opponents know that sometimes things can go well.

We developed our floor plan independently over three years and finally also with input from colleagues and planners (I work in building construction myself). Our house will have an H-shape, and it took a long time until we said, this is it now. Many things could be solved perfectly for us, but a few compromises have to be accepted with this shape. A few questions, such as the optimal location for the outdoor trash bins, still need to be clarified. It will not be a normal house with a normal floor plan. Among other things, we are building a large open kitchen-living area in the form of a living barn open up to the roof. The house will have a few very large floor-to-ceiling windows, some also around the corner, completely visible screed, and a cantilever staircase (not very child-friendly, might be regretted, but we’re doing it anyway). We have been running a construction blog on Instagram since 2018, which we will update soon. There you can also find views of the plan.
