I have also looked at gabions, personally I find them very ugly, but you can have them overgrown. In terms of price for a length of almost 20m, they quickly come to 3000-4000€ if you build them yourself, or have I just not yet found the right offer?

Everything costs four figures on 20m.

That is of course true. The ideas at the moment are: - Wooden board fence as planned for just under 1000 + installation - Building a wall out of clinker bricks, but clinker bricks also cost at least 1000-1500 for the area + mortar, concrete for the foundation + some equipment. So rather around 2k. That would of course be the most visually pleasing solution. Gabions are probably too expensive for me, considering I don't like them. I'm not really confident about the clinker wall. I've never built anything like that and I'm not sure if I can manage it the way I imagine. And how long it will take me :D

Your primary concern is sound; therefore, I would have this explained to me very thoroughly to find out whether and how my planned measures will actually alleviate this problem so that I am satisfied afterwards. Otherwise, you might have erected some walls and/or fences for a considerable amount of money and maybe saved in the wrong place somewhere, and your problem will not be solved. Especially in this case, I would strongly pay attention to the much-cited "form follows function" and look for someone who can competently recommend something to me on site.

Then brick cladding is the cold water you plunge into, even if it's just a garden wall and not intended to win any beauty awards... It needs a foundation underneath, bricks + mortar, a slab on top, and finally pointing. And many experienced bricklayers can't do the pointing properly either and often bring in subcontractors for that. So please don't favor brick cladding too much when money is tight....

I know what you mean, but I think the solution that ideally solves our problem is simply something we can't afford. We also haven't planned a big budget for it. I couldn't have known beforehand that we would have exactly THAT neighbor's house that does something like that. Otherwise, no one in the entire new development is being acoustically intrusive; it really is only ours.
