What do the neighbors on the other side actually say about it, or are there none?
I mean the other neighbors of the music lovers.

You do know that you should concrete the foundation at least 80 cm deep (plus 20 cm drainage!) and slightly beyond the thickness of the wall, right? With 20 meters length and 30 cm depth, that is 6 m3 of excavation, 8 m3 of soil to be disposed of. And one load of concrete costing at least 500 euros plus 2 m3 of gravel.

Plus 12 m3 of bricks at 2 meters height.

So quite a few trucks will have to come to your place... I also don’t think you will manage that “at about 2k” in DIY.

Especially since all of that is more of a privacy screen. I'm not sure if that really helps.

When considering the wall solution, don't forget that sound from the other side could also be "reflected" back to you. I am currently sitting at my parents' newly designed garden. I hear the immediate neighbors pleasantly little over the 1.60m high natural stone wall (ok, they aren't listening to Schlager music at the moment), but I do hear the neighbors on a completely different side who are apparently holding a Kniffel tournament right now.

What I mean is, maybe this doesn't really help you, and then you have invested time and money and still end up with frayed nerves. What speaks against saving a bit and opting for a proper soundproofing ready-made solution? My in-laws have such walls between the terraced houses, and it surprisingly reduces noise very well.

Then I wouldn't do anything at all and keep looking, otherwise a lot of money is lost and your problem remains unchanged. I think you have to search, listen, try, etc. for a longer time and inform yourself broadly. For me, a "half-hearted" but affordable solution would not be an option.

Mainly that as long as we have to save for it, we wouldn’t be able to use the garden, and we would also like to be on the terrace sometimes on Sundays.
It just annoys me already when watching TV. It can’t be that I built a detached house and can’t watch TV peacefully on Sunday evenings. :(
