For you, a local general contractor would actually make much more sense. Your view of "prefabricated house" is simply wrong again. It is neither cheaper nor associated with less moisture (you didn't write that, but this belief is common enough here) nor is it finished any faster. The only thing is that the rough shell is erected in a few days... But even with a solid house, you would be done with that within a month. Otherwise, you can also ask whether you may view larger projects shortly before handover. Our house building company has a mailing list and every week 2-3 houses can be viewed. There is also a salesperson on site who can answer pricing questions...Thank you, Yvonne. Viebrockhaus is, if I remember correctly, one of the somewhat more expensive providers; aside from that, I am so far glad to have chosen a prefabricated house provider. When I see how much work and how many hours of research I already have to put into the "project," I don't want to imagine how much effort it would be for a solid house. But that is on me; I want to understand (almost) every detail and decide or at least be able to approve others' decisions.
