We only want privacy from the street for now, since our neighbors have already planted something as a privacy screen. That means if no pedestrian is bothered by it, I think it’s not a problem.

You can choose. From Guardi, I know that you can have the fence installed, but you don't have to. It depends on how handy you are and how much time and willingness you have yourself.

There is no obligation here either, but my dog actually doesn't get along well with the neighbor's dogs, so a fence simply makes sense. It's also more pleasant for us humans than having to keep the dog on a leash often in our own garden during the summer.
