I assume the hedge is 2 meters high, as a privacy screen by the pool. Then it would only be 10 meters long and not long. But if I understand correctly, the OP is talking about a multiple of that length. Otherwise, I agree with you, such a cherry laurel hedge (I assume that's what you mean) is comparatively very low-maintenance.

I've also experienced people standing in front of a property, looking at the table, and talking about what one is eating here. Or people getting upset walking past the property because they see a fire in the fire bowl and then get annoyed about it. I don't want that. But it's like everything, a matter of attitude.

Yes, I can only agree with that. I think everyone sees it differently and that’s perfectly fine. For me, my garden should be private. But preferably through greenery and not through fences.

Opinions on gabions are divided. I personally have nothing against stones, on the contrary. But I find a Friesenwall much more appealing than gabions. However, it is of course not dog-proof.

Our property is currently only bordered by a hedge, which can't stay that way because of the dog, who easily slips through the hedge, and right in front of the hedge is the street. We want to remove the hedge and install a sturdy aluminum fence.

Thank you all for the many responses! I am simply overwhelmed.

I have now calmly googled the different options and I have to say that gabion fences, hedges, and double rod mats are not quite our thing. The chain link fence, on the other hand, is an option for behind, left, and right. In front of the house, it should be an eye-catcher.

Is aluminium actually that resistant? And what about the color options? It shouldn't just be something run-of-the-mill.
