Which material is suitable for the garden fence of the first house?

My parents have a laurel hedge like that. It gets trimmed super quickly. They spend one day per year on it. In terms of quantity, we're talking about a 30 sqm slope and in total maybe 20 sqm as a long hedge behind the pool.

Somehow it also depends on how you grew up. Such tall hedges and fences feel more like barricading yourself to me. Very few people do that here with us. I want to be able to look out over the countryside, into the surroundings and far away, even to the sea 300 meters away. That's why there won't be a real fence, just a coffee table-high wall with plants on it, decorated with stones, and for pure privacy a couple of wooden wall elements on the terrace. That also provides some wind protection. And those roller shutters in front of the windows won't be there either, as that would reinforce the visual isolation even more. Then some flowers have to go to the countryside, especially roses, but also daisies. And in the front garden there will be a glacial erratic, a beautiful large granite block....
