Subsidy for air-water heat pump €1500 instead of ground-source heat pump €4000 (area/trench) or €4500 (drilling). But lower annual performance factor? Where did you get that from?

Here is the flyer from the geothermal newspaper:

I do not want to claim that a heat pump must be the best decision considering the next few years, but I would still like to briefly list my reasons for installation:
- no emissions -> no chimney required
- low space requirement (compared to pellets)
- low maintenance
- you can possibly install the collector yourself (ground-source heat pump)
- combination with photovoltaics (excess energy can be used elsewhere or sold - unlike with solar thermal)
- SmartGrid
- cooling possible

We received a subsidy for our gas condensing boiler in the new building! From our energy supplier. That was nearly €1,500.00. In addition, we are exempt from the meter rent for the first year together.

The chimney sweep costs just under €80 per year and the maintenance €160. The consumption was generously estimated at €60 per month including hot water. If I now compare the lower construction costs of our energy standard Energy Saving Ordinance 2014 with a KFW 55 plan with a brine heat pump, I come to savings of about €30,000 when building the house. We had KFW 55 calculated by four companies and also by our general contractor because we were undecided.

For €30,000 I can heat with massage!

Just a thought for others who are undecided. A gas tank would not have been an option, however!

You are mixing the energy saving ordinance standard with the heating technology when it comes to costs. For us, the additional cost for the ground source heat pump is virtually zero with the energy saving ordinance standard set, if I include the subsidy. Here, at "amazingbee" the kfw55 standard is the requirement.

That cannot be - a gas boiler including gas connection does not cost as much as a brine heat pump. And then there is the drilling - depending on the region 7 to 15 thousand euros. The subsidy doesn't really reduce the price that much...

Another "can't be true" comment - I recently got that from a lady here in the forum. Do I seem that unbelievable?

Let's take the Viessmann Vitocal 343-G, so as not to use a cheap device as a reference. COP 4.6.
Price including 200l hot water tank: €8500 (gross)
Plus a surface or trench collector.
Material cost about €900 for the pipes plus antifreeze and distributor... let's say generously €1700.
That makes €10,200 plus excavation plus beer and sausages for the collector helpers.
Makes €11,000? €11,500?
Minus €4000 subsidy, that leaves €7000-€7500. With a cheaper heat pump, accordingly less.
I think a gas boiler + tank + flue gas system + gas connection costs at least the same, even though I haven’t had one offered - tell me, where do you stand with that! Installation, connection etc. will be about the same cost.

If you want/need to drill, the situation naturally looks different - that would have directly pushed my total costs up by a steep €10,000...

See, now you've written a lot of text, but I was starting from the borehole.

With a surface/trench collector, it naturally looks completely different - but that's not always possible. It didn’t work for us - in the end, I'm quite glad that I now have the safe option with the borehole.
