On the topic of downdraft fans:

We have a Neff downdraft fan in the exhaust air version in our kitchen.
Works well, the smell goes out and no stink swirl in the house.

We would always do it that way again.
The exhaust duct was laid in the screed.

If the filter is big enough, it works. But I don't know the system. Simple functionality test: fry green herrings. If it handles that well, it's good, no matter what anyone says.

We decided on recirculation because it seemed pointless to us to have a modern, very airtight house and then drill a hole for the exhaust air. And if we were properly informed, you then need an Aparillo that opens a window whenever the exhaust fan comes on to prevent negative pressure. That was too much effort for us. We now have the Bora Professional (induction and teppan) with the downdraft extractor in the recirculation version. Due to the season, more cooking is currently done outside (= grilling), so we still lack solid experience, but so far we are very satisfied with the extraction performance. Until now, we haven't even used the ventilation at full power.

Which manufacturer is it? Unfortunately, I can't recognize it. Thanks!

We have a downdraft extractor from Gaggenau. In my opinion, it is very narrow and hardly noticeable between the two cooktops. The control panel in the middle is for the downdraft extractor above it. It works well and delivers its performance. Regarding boiling over: The exhaust air is drawn off sideways inside the duct and not from below. There is only one insert there, which means that if something boils over, it flows into the removable insert that fits in the dishwasher (time required to remove about 15-30 seconds). The two-hour conversion time mentioned above in a post must probably refer to the installation of the entire system
