It was clear that such a statement had to come. Following that argument, you could still install Cat.5 now.
As I already wrote: with all the infrastructure installed flush in the wall, I choose the currently best option because I don’t want to change anything there anymore. And it’s less about 10 Gbit/s vs 40 Gbit/s for me, but rather that a Cat.8 cable is even more robust against interference than a Cat.7 cable.
The network infrastructure is important to me, and I don’t want to save a few hundred euros on exactly this item when renovating a house that will cost me over 100k in total.
