That is definitely true. As a general contractor or builder, you are actually happy with every part when the building materials supplier can deliver just in time and exactly the amount currently needed. If you do everything yourself as a builder, you can basically create one-third of a full-time position just for construction logistics (procurement, disposal, storage, catering).

Hornbach? The delivery only costs 99€. Can you have the concrete for the floor slab delivered as bagged goods? I ordered there back then for the outdoor area, a pallet of concrete, a pallet of curbstones, 5 big packs of decorative gravel. 99€. It came with 3 different trucks.

20cbm floor slab with bagged material. Yes! I once ran 1.5 tons from bags through the mixer in one day. That lasted me a week. Aside from that: local building materials market, 35€ per delivery (gross), 3 euros per pallet lift. Stock material deliverable within 1 day if really urgent. Cubic meter concrete from bags: at least 200€ without delivery plus water, electricity, and mixing. Cubic meter concrete (6-7cbm minimum order without small order surcharge): 137€ free delivery at my place

That's already good information. So that means I can save myself the inquiry there because the prices are always bad? Because the short-term delivery is included in the price. When you factor that in, the price isn’t bad. But I don’t need it, so for me the price is bad.

Regarding logistics; I have about 1/2 hectare of storage space next door and also a hall where I can store weather-sensitive parts.

That means I don’t have to pay the surcharge for precise delivery in the building materials trade but can inquire at a brick manufacturer. They will deliver the items when it suits them, and I get a better price.

Thank you I will get back to the concrete once I have understood how it works with the bricks

Go to 1-2 local building material dealers and get advice, also regarding discount tiers. It should be obvious that you won’t get the same prices as a construction company. If you actually get the bricks directly from the factory (no idea if anyone does that), you still need the building material dealer for the reinforcement and other reinforcement stuff. I hardly believe that a steel mill will supply you directly, and by then a discount tier becomes interesting.
