We have uniform wood-look tiles on the ground floor everywhere (except in the office, where there is carpet). On the top floor, we have tiles in both bathrooms. The bedrooms, upper hallway, and stairs have a durable loop pile carpet. So far, we are very satisfied with our choice.
We love natural building materials, therefore massive wood planks everywhere (both staircases, entire upper floor except bathroom, living-dining room 52 sqm). In the ground floor hallway, bathrooms, kitchen and possibly also basement tiles (Sollnhofer slabs).
I actually wanted cork for the bedroom and children's room as well. How sensitive is it? With, uh, a throwing and throw-loving toddler... Doesn't it get scuffed quickly?
Who throws children? :P Ask me again in 10 years ... I am not worried at all. There are also positive experiences with cork in the family (e.g. in the stairwell, in the kitchen ... Not exactly low-traffic areas).
