Hello

This is the first important step. Which also answers the question "How did you approach this issue?" from me.
Do I understand correctly – you are going to the Kripo?
For us, the Kripo came directly to our home (we only had the plans for the new building, but he said that he always goes to the "customer" and looks at the circumstances on site). The police officer inspects the house and property with you and points out the danger spots and possibilities in this context. Then you can get quotes and afterwards decide what you want to implement and what not.

A few months ago, I saw something interesting about this on MDR (I found it again in an earlier post of mine on the same topic):

Search on Google using the following keywords:
"MDR Einfach genial Erfindungen Sicherheitssystem Fotofalle"
Go to June 14, 2016 and watch the segment "Sicherheitssystem."

This idea does not prevent the break-in, but in my opinion can decisively contribute to damage limitation and perpetrator identification.

Of course, prevention is better than cure.

WK2 is equivalent to RC2, which means laminated safety glass is bonded into the frame. RC2N only matches here in profile/locking/handle but has standard glazing.

We do the following for security: RC2, meaning mushroom head locks, lockable handles with drill protection, laminated safety glass, window contact switches to be able to set up an alarm system, front door with 5-point locking and 3-point hinge protection, no light wells in the basement.

I also went to the police, but not our local one. I had the chance to pry open a normal window there and saw some cross-sections of various security measures. However, I was already extensively informed via the internet, so the appointment there did not really bring any new insights.

However, according to the guy who gave our lecture, it is pointless.
A picture of the burglar rarely helps in most cases; less than 20% of all break-ins are solved at all, and an even smaller proportion of the stolen goods ever turn up again. Sounds from a speaker only cause short confusion and may help to scare off opportunistic thieves, but the gangs that move from place to place are far too relaxed about that.

Also, things like tablets, cell phones, and TVs are now uninteresting. These items fetch too little on the black market and require too much effort to resell. Cash and jewelry are still popular...

Hello Painkiller

the <20% are rather the rigged version. Here in NRW, as soon as a suspect is identified, the burglary is recorded as solved in the statistics. Whether they are later convicted or not. Also, the suspect is quickly assigned several similar burglaries and declared solved. Just statistics.
: the police advisory service was my first point of contact. And there I was in very good hands. My advisor was a professional with patience. He went through all the weak points with me and named various alternatives. With an existing property, you do have to make compromises. But a lot is possible.
Windows are the attack point No. 1. (this of course includes the patio door) Mushroom locks are an absolute must.
The often neglected roof should also be a focus. You get in there quickly. Lift a tile and a firm kick. You’re in.
When I was assaulted at home, the guys rang constantly. They first wanted to check if someone was home and then probably enter through the patio at the back. So a camera over the front door that saves video on movement wouldn’t be a bad idea. By the way, not on the patio either.

I didn't mean a toy, but a system that signals as soon as someone STARTS tampering with a WK2/3 window and hopefully still needs a few minutes before getting inside. And a security service with enough vehicles in the area that don't come from the other side of the city. It certainly isn't the only foolproof solution, but at least someone comes here ........ if there are no neighbors around.

The screwdriver as a standard tool is probably correct, at least for occasional burglars. Whether the organized gangs act the same way can be answered by the criminal investigation department.

Hm – you might be right about the professional burglars. Fortunately, I haven’t been in the unlucky situation yet.
However, I think it’s a bit different with opportunistic burglars / procurement criminals. Not too long ago, I saw a report stating that an opportunistic thief is generally satisfied with 30 euros on average. If disturbed, I can imagine they would just grab the nearest thing (pad) and run off.

In that case, the photo would be a helpful identification measure – especially since GPS tracking would be possible (if the pad has an active SIM).

regarding the 20%:
also wrote about solved cases, not convictions.
Leaving aside that a caught burglar can probably be linked to several burglaries (I consider our police capable of that – fingerprints, photos, possibly modus operandi, etc.). So the statistics are not necessarily "massaged" but correctly represented.
