What is the difference in sound insulation between a solid house and a prefabricated house?

You are of course right with your objection regarding furniture etc. . We cannot say for sure. But after spending 1.5 Sundays roaming around the model house park—which was originally intended more for ideas regarding the interior, architecture, etc.—we see absolutely no reason to build a prefab house instead of a solid house. I always thought such houses were cheaper and that anyone wanting to save money would just build something like that instead of a solid house. I somehow can’t understand it at the same price....

Regarding sound insulation: Do you mean that massive brick houses and prefab houses are about the same in that regard? I have to ask the solid house builder for the corresponding values for our project on Thursday.

So a sand-lime brick will definitely be better than a prefab house or expanded clay, as it looks with Poroton I don't know.

I just don't know anyone who has lived in both and can express their feelings about sound noise.

But it's not only the stone that is decisive, but the windows and the roller shutter boxes, here I would pay attention to that when building the house.

Your prejudice is older than I am. The idea that prefab houses serve to allow even patients with statutory health insurance to become homeowners has been around for quite some time.

Are there clear guidelines you would make in this regard?

First of all, thanks to everyone who took the time to respond here. Great tips included!

You are probably right. I always try to avoid presenting something as definitively true because I learn something new every day and some things later turn out to be wrong.
My impression so far of solid house vs. prefab house overall for both: very dependent on the materials used and the quality of the construction company. If we assume high-quality materials and good construction companies in each case, then the following points apply:

    [*]Costs: Quite similar.
[*]Indoor climate: Also comparable since both are airtight. Here, a ventilation system has more influence.
[*]Construction time: Slight advantage for prefab house but not much. The biggest advantage of prefab houses is probably weather independence, especially if a large part of the construction takes place in winter.
    [*]Stability/quality: Comparable.
[*]Sound insulation: According to the previous answers here and googling "sound insulation in prefab houses" (good tip!) it looks like there won't be much change here either.

That means that a prefab house built with drywall construction ala Bien-Zenker and a solid house "brick by brick" hardly differ in quality and living comfort (including sound insulation) in the end, if you get a good construction company with good craftsmen and a good site manager, who use good materials and ideally also have a good expert who finds any defects that arise (which there always will be).

Can this be summarized roughly like that?

Anyone who has a tip for a construction company/accompanying expert in Ingolstadt would help me a lot.

Hi Oliver,

have you decided on a prefab house now? Or are you still open to both construction methods?
