hello stove owners,

my wife and I are currently planning our house.
The topic of the stove is currently giving us headaches. Due to the placement of our stove, we would like one with 3 panes.
Now we have the problem that on one side next to a side pane we are planning to put our sofa. And we only have 60 cm up to our sofa.

I have already read all the installation instructions of various stoves.
They almost always say that we have to maintain a minimum distance of 80 cm in the radiation area of the viewing windows.

A stove installer near us offered us the "Sendai" from the company Hase. There we actually only need a distance of 40 cm. But unfortunately it is too narrow for us. The stove should be at least 50 cm wide.
But there must be several of these stoves, right?

Does anyone have a tip for us? That would be great

Hi,

the thing with the 3 panes is certainly nice. Quickly looking through the huge selection, I only find the Austroflamm "Glas," which also requires an 80 cm distance.

From my own experience, I can tell you: The minimum distance (to the glass pane) means rather that nothing will "catch fire" at this distance anymore.

When the stove is in use, it already gets (very) uncomfortably warm at an 80 cm distance (i.e., at the minimum distance) from the glass surface. You don’t want to sit there all the time. Surfaces also become noticeably warm here. I built a stainless steel reflector here, which I set up when needed, to make places near the pane tolerable for staying in some cases (many guests).

If you want to keep the setup/furniture as is, I would advise you to choose a stove with a widely curved, very large window. But no window on the side, as the distances there are significantly smaller. A stove that is mounted so it can rotate might also be an option, so you can turn the pane slightly toward the sofa and look at the flames when needed.

My Austroflamm Uno-Back has a side distance of 30 cm and that is really sufficient (since there is no window on the side).

At a well-stocked magazine store there are special magazines for fireplaces / wood stoves. You can get wonderful ideas there.

Best regards Thorsten

Good morning,
based on my experience with our fireplace, I can tell you that I wouldn’t want anything standing 80 cm in front of the glass. There is always some dirt around the area.

Is the chimney supposed to be on the right side next to the wall and the fireplace even further to the right? Why is the chimney built so far into the room? If you don’t necessarily want it as a room divider, I would consider something else (external pipe, different position, or at most a Schiedel Kingfire Parat).

Edit: Keep in mind, you also always need some space to store wood, fire starters, etc.

Why should the stove be about 50 cm wide? Your chimney is certainly around 40 cm. In my opinion, a stove of approximately the same size looks better. Besides, you gain 5 cm of distance again.

The Asmara from Hase is a bit wider than the Sendai and has a minimum distance of 55 cm. Otherwise, I wouldn't know any that meet your conditions.

Then I'll write my experiences passend to this:

We have the Luno from Hase (rated output 5.5 kW). Yes, depending on how much wood is inside, it can get quite warm in front of the glass. But all within limits. And the dirt/ash does not spread 80 cm with us. More like 30 - 50.

Our chimney is also 20? cm away from the wall. According to the construction company, it couldn't be done differently because of the roof and the upper walls. The fireplace stands 15 cm in front of that.

This is what it looks like then:

We then make a virtue out of necessity and install a glass sliding door that runs behind the chimney. Then it looks like it has to be that way...

Right! And important. I know people who didn't plan that.
