Why don't you just install a wood stove directly in the chimney? Then it won't protrude as much and you won't have the spacing problems as much? For example, PLEWA Classic - the stove in the chimney

Also available from Schiedel. I think it's called Kingfire. We had also once considered something like that, but in the end we didn’t like it.

Do you know approximately how much these integrated chimneys from Schiedel or Plewa cost? I can't find any prices online.
