@ " " I think that if a child has fallen into the well, it is primarily pointless to ask who is to blame. In this case, tiles with the appropriate build-up height (by the executing company) were planned, and now a thinner covering is to be used. There are actually NO problems here that I can recognize! The screed surface will be subjected to a cleaning grind, the dust vacuumed off, the entire surface primed with a dispersion, and then covered with a suitable leveling compound in the necessary thickness. DONE! Whether the height difference of 8mm is achieved by a ceramic tile or by a mineral leveling compound is practically completely irrelevant for the thermal conductivity and thermal resistance. It does not have a negative effect! -------------------------------- Wishing you good success: KlaRa

Thank you very much for the assessment, that is immensely reassuring. The question of who is at fault only arises regarding the additional costs, but I currently estimate that there should be no problems. Now I am waiting for the response from the site manager.

Well, you have to realize first that the total area is "manageable" in size, and that even with the installation of ceramic tiles, additional work with material costs would have occurred. That means: in a (here purely hypothetical) legal dispute, there are inevitable costs that would reduce the potentially disputed amount. My advice: the expenses for a legal dispute would probably be disproportionate! There are – especially in construction – situations where the client can only grind their teeth loudly. They are right, but enforcing this is usually (or often) tedious given the necessary time involved. But such a decision of course lies with you! ------------- Regards: KlaRa

8mm is the height that some already need just to get the screed smooth in the first place, so nothing wild. Check edge insulation strips and then apply the compound, done.

I think people in this forum will be able to properly assess such a statement!
