... and nevertheless, it is probably the most sensible way to "give" something to as many people as possible. Especially since the households themselves or the respective sectors have been affected so differently by Corona. For example, we will also benefit a lot from it, but personally are (fortunately) completely unaffected financially. The money saves us, which we will invest elsewhere again. And purely for karmic reasons, we will probably donate the savings from a large bill...
By the way, I believe that some will indeed try to put smaller things into this quasi-discount period, and that's exactly what it's about. One of my lecturers always said: "There is only one drive that is more pronounced in humans than the sexual drive, and that is the tax-saving drive." My professional experience so far says: The good man is absolutely right.
