Since my managing director has not yet kicked me out for complete incompetence, I seem to master at least the basic knowledge of accounting and price calculation as a trained accountant, tax specialist and controller.

... or your managing director knows that you know something about him or his company. And he wants to avoid that an absolutely incompetent employee who was fired in a dispute with a revenge motive has this knowledge

Wrong - the price tag in the supermarket is only an invitation to make an offer (so-called "invitatio ad offerendum"). When the customer stands at the checkout with the item/places the item on the conveyor belt, the offer is made by the customer - acceptance then occurs through scanning/registering by the cashier.
