Stair railing at 18 cm wall distance

Hello,
we have a straight staircase, which on one stringer side faces a fixed-glass window and on the other side an open space. The height to be overcome is 2.60m.
We will equip the open side with stepped glass. However, on the other side there is an 18 cm gap between the window and the wall/stairs.
Should one consider a second railing or is the gap too large?
Or are there inexpensive temporary railings/bars/... that can be removed afterward (after the younger age of the kids)?

In public buildings and offices, the distance would not be permissible for safety reasons. I would not plan it that way in private areas either, for reasons of my own safety alone.

How should one imagine that? :rolleyes: Are there pictures /plans?

How did it come to this? Who planned it that way?

With children, I would DEFINITELY build a railing for such a staircase model. And you are aware that the stairs are very, very loud if you don’t sneak like a cat and only weigh as much as an elf? (a good example of "beautiful but heavy and impractical")
