Stair protection railing - stair safety for children

That was exactly the reason - the lowest step. However, there are tricky solutions with telescopic rails etc. - we actually have no problem with that. We see a problem at the house entrance between the stair railing and the glass element. I haven't come up with a "nice" solution here yet :(

Yes, sure, that would work... But I actually don't feel like locking off the entire hallway right after the front door :D

If it’s a pure kitchen room, reconsider the idea of locking off the entire front area. When I had my first child, I also had a complicated entrance situation with stairs and kitchen, so in the end both kitchen and stairs were locked off together. In hindsight, I was really glad to be able to lock my daughter out of the kitchen when she discovered opening the fridge or the cutlery drawer, where of course knives were inside, etc. I had to chase after her much less than I do now with my son, where we have the kitchen open.
