It was not the wall thickness meant, but the room width. I have no imagination how a room with 3.9m width and 9m length feels as a living room. As mentioned, we do it differently, but this cannot be realized in a rectangular house. I also found the note regarding carport and garage, that this is not recognized in some municipalities, helpful (unlike the comment that it is a nonsense idea without justification). Budget is certainly a decisive factor, but that is why I am looking for a floor plan for 190 sqm and not for 250 sqm and also not for 140 sqm plus 50 sqm basement.

You got exactly what you were aiming for here: You yourself said that there is a lot to improve. You probably received suggestions and tips from Curly and Climbee? And from many others? You can read about it

Regarding the room width, which was not asked:

We cannot look into your head to know what you mean and want. And you are on a forum where some people can sound a bit harsh, although it is not meant that way. Euphemistic words are not always to be expected.

However, it is pointless to sulk and lick your wounds and discuss this here, you are ruining your own thread – it only benefits you if you also accept the tips, improvements, or basically the doubts and mistakes and learn from them. Have you even addressed any criticism at all?

Helpful comments that gave new ideas or points to consider unfortunately only came from curly and climbee. The rest only referred to slope not taken into account and wrong budget. But it doesn't help me if I go to an architect with ideas that can't be realized anyway or look ugly.

The explanation about the slope also doesn't help me so far. A basement has never been needed before and I find it of little use if I have 50 sqm of finished space there but no window to look out of, etc. With tiles, underfloor heating, a second proper staircase, etc., it probably won't be cheaper than the 2m slab and 40 sqm of normal living space more?

As said, it's about relocating a fully furnished and equipped 200 sqm inner-city apartment with terrace into a single-family house in the countryside.

The architect should have the ideas. You just have to provide a room program at most. A simple list is enough.

Yes, of course that helps.
You have a sloped plot, so you have to consider planning a basement or the lower floor built into the slope.
You cannot ignore the slope.

That was the best advice, to pay attention to this slope. Our question came up, but unfortunately you ignored this issue.

Hello TE, you misunderstood both the part about the basement on the slope and the part about the architect.

Regarding the basement: On the slope, the basement comes out at ground level (or almost) on the lower side, thus forming a fully usable living space, with a patio door and/or window. Since a lot of earthworks are required anyway because of the slope, a basement with living quality on one side can be had for only a little extra cost. Hence the recommendation.

Regarding the architect: You don’t go to him with YOUR ideas and he makes something out of them! You have your room program (what do I even want and what together and what not), your plot, and your development plan. And then the architect shows you HIS ideas. That way around.

Especially on the slope, a must.

I think you misunderstand some points of criticism.
