However, the construction expert has made the living room even larger to the detriment of other rooms on the ground floor. I wonder if you have designed a room plan for yourselves, because planning another table in the living room, where the dining area is already very large, seems questionable to me. Also, I seem to remember that a pantry was not originally planned.

- I based it on our draft and the size of the living room, and that works for us. We also don't want to set up a table there permanently, only if there's a celebration. The pantry was added because many said the way to the utility room via the steps was too far and having storage and heating in one room would be a no-go. As I see it, everyone sees things differently... but that's just how it is. It would be bad if everyone had the same opinion/views.

Please ask your architect to start a NEW design with your/your group's room program. It doesn't make sense if you are sitting in front of a finished design and realize that you still need room y (see problem pantry). Usually, you can't just add a room without other areas suffering as a result. I also think that you yourself are too overwhelmed to directly implement suggestions or ideas in your mind. That sounds more negative than it is because not everyone can see 3D from a 2D drawing or virtually move walls. But that's what you have an architect for! Also, you have to let go of a view that you like if the interior doesn't work. The next design (there are actually plenty of other options that look visually similar to the current one) will be much better if you show the architect what you need. However, give him some leeway and don't tie him down with the rotation of the roof. I'm already looking forward to the next one :) Regards Yvonne P.s. And then a bit cheaper ;)

- Our first draft was basically as you described it (I think). I’m attaching the ground floor and upper floor again. We had it changed because we wanted the master bedroom upstairs and the guest room was missing.

- we gave the architect our requirements and this is the result ;(. I think the architect is the one who should make something out of it, but oh well..... What I also find sad is that he hardly comes up with anything new when we want changes. I can also see that with the pantry (as noted by her) just carelessly thrown in. See also the upper floor. We said the bathroom is too small for us, and what happens? It gets 0.80 m² bigger... well, it didn’t get any better because of that. And then he tries to squeeze the remaining rooms into the upper floor without changing the building shape. You can see the result.

I'm slowly at the point where I'm considering changing the architect, I just don’t know what he will charge us for the previous drawings. We haven’t signed a contract. But as soon as I talk to him about the fact that from our point of view the cooperation is not going as desired, the relationship with him will suffer and then there will be no going back.

I generally like the layout much better (especially the kitchen, dining, utility room, entrance). Drawback: bedroom on the living room level and the technical room quite far from the bathrooms.

How old are your children? If they are still very young, it wouldn't really be possible at the moment to have only 2 rooms upstairs, one for you as the bedroom, one for the children as the bedroom, and downstairs currently a playroom for the children. When the children are about 6 years old, you could move downstairs and the children would have their own floor.

There are no children yet. Two children are planned, but who knows. Of course, one could first use 1 children's room as a bedroom. Nevertheless, the floor plan is missing 1 office / guest room, and I find the bedroom downstairs too small.
