In this bathroom, it's really about centimeters ... it's way too tight anyway - but everything necessary should be included and the stay made as comfortable as possible. 90 cm shower space (for example, you could save there ... but I don't want to) is more relaxed than 87 cm. I read your doubts ... but I really can't see exactly where important weak points could be. If the wall is 3 cm thicker, it is more stable "in itself," so less movable. If a 3-centimeter wall is firmly anchored on both sides (I can manage that), the seam won't move more than with 5 cm (that's my claim now ... give up such nice space because of a little work? ;)) It may well be that I'm overlooking something (often the difficulties lie in places you didn't expect) but so far I am confident

Why don't you take a glass wall? Especially in such a small room, it feels much more open. And it is 8 mm thick.

Unstable fastening = movement of the wall = no longer correct sealing on the shower side.

Only that you have to fiddle to get any fastening at all. For that, you use steel profiles that are attached to the wall/floor/ceiling (and of course at the front edge). That is stable if you screw drywall onto it. It also no longer swings in itself.

Don’t use tiles on the washbasin side and the difference between proper and shoddy is 10 mm.

In principle, I think glass is great. Bright and easy to clean. But glass walls in the bathroom require constant maintenance to look good. One of my top guiding principles when making decisions in my own house: cleaning should require little effort.

Tiles do that too. By the way, there are beautiful glass walls with (partially) frosted glass. They provide privacy, let in light, and require little maintenance.

Yes, after showering briefly wipe it down. What else do you want to maintain on it?
