Not because it doesn’t go far enough, but because it is simply illogical. An open window means oxygen supply and promotes the chimney effect, i.e. it pulls the room into the room you are standing in. Without timely rescue from outside, I would say that opening the escape route on the upper floor is even counterproductive.

However, the fire department does not have to watch from outside through the window as you suffocate. You need oxygen just as much as the fire does. If you still have the choice between the window and the stairwell, the problem does not arise at all.

but you won't get any emergency power supply with the bus there 30V DC vs. 230V AC. A motor already has several times the power of a bus voltage supply.

Nonsense... of course we have a large APC UPS (230 V) that supplies the bus, server, etc. etc. Adding the one 100-watt motor there would obviously be no problem.

No one told us that they are not allowed to be electric. Now people are already thinking about it. How badly must it burn for the house to be without electricity? Actually, the smoke detectors should have woken everyone up already.

And if the house is on fire and everything is filled with smoke, am I supposed to connect the crank and turn it by hand just in case? Strange logic of the fire department. It wasn't an issue in our last house either - everything electric.

The fact that opening a window in a special case can lead to a flashover has nothing to do with the fact that a second escape route is extremely sensible. The objection is to be assessed similarly to the one that a car door is not fully thought through because it can jam in the event of an accident. Or the conclusion to ride a bicycle without a helmet again because cyclists with helmets are overtaken by cars on average 20 cm closer and have accidents more often – yes, that statistic exists too. What then happens in an emergency is something entirely different – an eleven-year-old daughter of friends was so panicked in an emergency situation that she was no longer able to open the locked front door from the inside despite the key being within easy reach.
