Then maybe you should have thought about what you write beforehand.

Let it be; you are happy with your choice and that makes me happy for you! In my opinion, you should only refrain from judgments based on matters of which you have only - if at all - rudimentary knowledge.

Rhenish greetings

I have no problem with that – but I do have a problem with your arguments as to why an expert must also be involved with the architect. Voki1 described it very well – with you it sounded completely different, and that rather shows me that you have a preconceived opinion, which either arose from ignorance of the professional role of an architect – or simply from worse experiences.

I just assume the second position – which still should not be presented as universally valid. And that is exactly what you do, emphasizing it with latent discrimination/assumptions against me.

That can be done, it surely makes enough users appear competent – I find it rather unfair because you do not allow any discussion at all.

Tasks, duties, independences... nice words that are not always carried out as intended.
As already described above: not all architects are demigods who perform every task expected of them correctly.

In such a discussion, I also like to assume that most architects work with their preferred craftsmen, even though the client has the final say in the selection after the tenders. That means: in the end, the architect is on a first-name basis with "his" company that his client has chosen.
This is the case in every industry: either it’s the (agreed beforehand) cheaper price or simply the experience of good cooperation. Clients also like to take their architect’s recommendation, just as every customer doesn’t always check the third service recommended by the second service provider.

This does not necessarily imply construction defects or faults, but trust can sometimes be written as small, so having an expert is additionally a good choice.

YMMD

I resist your opinion that a freelance architect – similar to the doctors in white coats – is presumptively assumed to be reputable, while every architect employed by a general contractor/main contractor/total contractor is assumed to be dishonest. Nothing more, nothing less!

In my area of responsibility, I have yet to have a bad experience with architects – neither freelance nor employed; on the other hand, I have had plenty with clients.

I have known our architects for a very long time; that means, among other things, we also talk about the "temptations" of our professional profiles. From this I know first-hand how and at what point architects can manipulate. So cleverly and unobtrusively that the client perceives it as their own decision. That means, for example, if your architect "were" to pursue this – which thanks to your opinion I can exclude – "you would" commission exactly those craftsmen he wants on site and you "would" still consider it your decision. And then we are right back to the topic I have been trying to explain for "x" posts.

This by no means means that all architects are inherently bad people; only, there are so-called black sheep in this profession too. Furthermore, the tasks of employed and freelance architects do not differ significantly; so we are again back to the topic of expert witnesses.

... latent discrimination ... latent allegation? I thought I read something like "You have no idea about the professional profile of an architect"?

You don’t really want to discuss, at least so far; you want your opinion confirmed, to be right; I want peace. That is a small but subtle difference

Rhenish regards

Sorry, you’re getting all tangled up there in a rather arrogant way... but feel free to keep putting me into the "oh how cute, what the closet amateur builder is saying" box – others in the thread have very much understood what I meant.

And yes, so far it hasn’t become a trades company of my architect, but completely unknown firms to him. And there’s no informal address or joking around with the craftsmen – but that’s probably just a clever manipulation of my person that was carried out there.

Be that as it may, in my opinion it’s not worth continuing to talk with you about it – unfortunately it can’t be called a discussion.

The funny thing is that everyone here more or less shares the same opinion with different variations. I quite like reading something like this when arguments / opinions (especially on matters of taste) escalate. It gets the discussion going and highlights the different perspectives. I also can't help but sometimes get personal and maybe poke someone with the verbal finger in the side to see who loudly says "ouch." Here, everyone (almost) likes each other and it's okay to mutually tease a bit. Now I'm going to really show off, take power into my hands, and declare the discussion over. (at the same time, I am curious about the reactions regarding this).
