You laid the floor before painting? Don’t people usually do it the other way around if they have the choice? Otherwise, yes, it was tiles in my condo too. Back then I supposedly chose modern anthracite-colored floor tiles on which you can't really see the dust, but you can see cement haze and lime deposits. Especially in the walk-in shower, a big mistake. You can’t clean with Berlin water often enough to prevent it from eventually turning light gray/brown/red/yellow. The question is just which color can hide that better?

Because of the Berlin water and experiences shared by friends, we will install a water softening system after the building inspection. Before that, we had already decided against two elements that suffer from hard water - no fully tiled floors in the shower, but Corian as the base, and no elongated floor drain with metal grating, but a drain in the middle with a kind of Corian plug.

Good idea. Since ours has been on, the water is much more pleasant.

Oh yes, tiles... a special topic. I worked my way through the selection from the least important room (HAR) via the guest WC to the main bathroom. HAR has a gray floor tile and a tile splashback behind the utility sink made from the same tile. It didn’t all look that dark and it’s great on the floor... but on the wall... it probably could have been a lighter color (and that was available too). But I don’t spend much time in that room, so I’m relaxed about it. The guest WC fit well. And the main bathroom has a wow effect, although I couldn’t have predicted the combined effect of the floor tile (wood-concrete), the "scraped" wall tile (Mom tried to wipe off the decor because she thought it was dirt...) and the border made from the floor tile. Now it looks really good. But I have to say, luckily it all came together like this...

Sounds interesting, how expensive is something like that? Your solution and approx. per m² Makes me curious, is there already a picture of it in the forum?

No... actually there isn’t a single picture here in the forum... even though I have praised the bathroom quite often. I guess I really have to deliver after all.
