I see that as an inexpensive and quick solution that shouldn't hurt anyone excessively...

No, I don't know. But I also don't have access to the current RAL specifications. Although in the ift online planner (which is basically the reference), the roller shutter actually sits ON the end pieces:

Have this RAL regulation named for you. So chapter and subpoint. I have an edition from 2014 and it doesn’t say anything about these 8mm. There are even various implementation examples where the roller shutter guide rail rests on the windowsill or the end pieces.

It now looks exactly the same with us as it does with you.

Whether there are regulations, I do not know; it was a recommendation.

The window installer set the guide rails up to the windowsill during installation; the plasterer offered us to raise them independently so that no dirt accumulates in the corner and it can be cleaned better.

We also have light incidence; the roller shutter lies lowered on the windowsill.

The light incidence also bothered me a lot at first, but now nothing can be changed, and I have gotten used to it. It was completely indifferent to my husband; he would probably also sleep under a disco ball.

I noticed the same thing a few days ago in our new build. Our windows look exactly the same from the outside when viewed in detail. But inside, it is only bright in the corners and the entire blind does not illuminate. I was also initially surprised, but it seems to be the consequence of some other construction execution details, such as the "hollow" corners. It wouldn't bother me as much as it does the OP; with us, thanks to the south/east side, it is not so intense in the morning that it would wake us up. We need it dark to sleep. The question is what can still be done afterward. I would also get several opinions and look into what retrofit solutions exist to at least make it darker in the bedrooms. The fact that cleaning might become more difficult can probably be neglected. After all, a lot of dirt collects in the corners anyway.

I will definitely follow up again.

I actually don't care at all about the cleaning options. If I can't sleep, I don't feel like cleaning anyway. The question of what is still possible afterward is something we are also concerned about. Unfortunately, the window manufacturer completely brushed us off. I've already looked for end caps or something similar myself, but I haven't really found anything. Making something up is too uncertain for me, I don't want the shutter to spread apart eventually and something to break. We now have blackout curtains, but they have to lie nicely and precisely, otherwise too much light still gets in. It’s never really nice with any "DIY solutions," especially in a new building.
