Yes, but the OP spoke of 20km outside .... which suggests that it is not the property since it would only be 10km .... The price might fit but for me that has nothing to do with a home anymore. That is a [Wohnklo].

Oh-oh... Your comments are not exactly empathetic!

We previously had a semi-detached house with about 250 sqm, and that was perfectly fine. Neighbors with 2 children had a townhouse with 50 sqm in the back, and they were happy in their home.

I find your comments more than disturbing. They have nothing to do with the original poster but only with you and your current standards.

Different location, different situation, different house.

There is nothing to complain about regarding townhouses with small plots. A playground is usually nearby, there are nice neighbors, it is affordable and manageable, the work is limited, but most important: you can feel comfortable in your own four walls. Later you can always sell. It is a great starter property.
But from my own experience, I know: in such "tight" built areas people stick together as a community. Great!

I don't want to argue about the kilometers, but Maps says 15 km. And a bit back and forth...
20 km is the airbase... Tornados included
After that comes ND. It doesn't get any cheaper there either. Audi built the
"driving experience Center" there a few years ago.
Only the other direction remains, which would at least be more scenic.

Totally with you... you don't need more. Just needs to be cleaned

I know the sayings from locals well enough: "Only 500sqm of land?! That's just enough for my garage."
Sure, when the sqm of land costs only €20.

So what, to each their own pleasure.

You just have to know what you’re getting with a REH. Usually cheap, noisy construction, because the clientele has a tight budget. When the neighbor is grilling, you can grill a sausage over the fence. It’s just bad if you don’t get along and there’s bad blood.

From my colleagues with REHs, I know these stories all too well and most of them sell again.

As a starter property, because of the usually low price, it is justified.

500k is a tight budget?
If that’s the case for you, congratulations.
In sought-after areas, the market is what it is.
The fact is, a townhouse near a metropolitan area will perform better than the 300m² bunker out in the sticks.
Location, location, location.
