The modem and the switch for the room lines are in the media cabinet. We have mounted the wifi access point decoupled on the wall so that we can turn it off when going to bed (the switch cuts the power circuit) to satisfy our paranoia. The cables will of course look nicer later; I just didn’t have a suitable cable at IBN right now.

Nice is different but at least not in the closet. And DECT and the mobile phones, do you also turn off wifis in the neighborhood? House completely without power? Scan the frequencies then you wouldn’t turn off your access point either....

Why an extra switch? Most APs can be configured to turn off at a certain time. Possibly only after the last device has disconnected, you probably also put all your phones in airplane mode ;)

Yes, I know the feature but haven’t had good experiences with it. (PC restart, or you come home later in the evening, ...)

You might manage it differently, but in my opinion, it doesn’t look bad and works great. The position is also chosen so that the access point radiates perfectly into the room – but as you notice, the switch can be discussed.

Then you just press the WLAN button again. Had to set up something like that with us.
