Hey,

somehow I'm not really making progress right now. I'm looking for an elegant solution to shield the terrace on the south side a bit from the adjoining street. On the one hand as a windbreak, and on the other hand as privacy from passersby.

Since there is a distance between the south side of the terrace and the southern property boundary ranging from 4.5m (small terrace) to 6m (large terrace), I can hardly imagine having "two things" standing there. On the one hand, a 1.8m high privacy screen directly on the south side of the terrace and, going around the corner or at the property boundary, a fence or a hedge. The space in between would then feel like some sort of enclosed room or corridor to me. If the space were larger/wider, I believe these two things wouldn't interfere with each other.

The neighbor to the west has a 1.8m-2m high fence with privacy screens.

Possibly plant large hedge plants up to the "bend/offset" of the curb on the south...

I'm really a bit at a loss here.

Thanks for your feedback!

Can you label your nice drawing a little more? Somewhere the writing for the drawing is unclear ;) In the small version, I see that there is something at the bottom, but it gets cut off when I open the photo.

Um, I can do that, but what information are you missing?

As already mentioned: your problem with the south is not visible. Additionally, a few distance measurements would be very helpful.

So, improved a bit again

The area marked in red should be somewhat protected from wind and views. The maximum height allowed here is probably 1.8m.
The green area is the property boundary to the south and would initially be relevant for wind and privacy protection. The neighbor to the west has a 1.5m high fence on the south side. So looking over it would be possible. Whether a higher fence would be approved is the question, since it is a (private) (side street). I would imagine a tall hedge (or a fence with privacy inserts) here, which one buys already as a tall plant, otherwise it takes years to reach the appropriate height.

I do not consider closing off both the red and green areas sensible, because of the small distance between the two "installations" and it would create a kind of corridor.

Bushes and plants. Exactly along the red line. That’s how it has always been done and it has proven effective: directly at the protection-relevant spot, not 5 meters before or to the side, but creating an area like that.
