You could, for example, change the stairs and move them further forward, then possibly a door from the hallway to the study would also be possible. However, that of course changes all the rooms, because the area around the stairs would have to be replanned.

I actually find the concept "From the hallway into the dressing room and then into the bedroom" quite nice. We once saw that in a show house, where the bed was in the middle of the room on a drywall partition, and behind the wall were the wardrobes, one on the drywall partition and one on the room wall. I also found that quite nice. In a dressing room, you have so much space that it never looks messy.

Edit:
Something like this for example:

We recently stumbled over this question as well. Our conclusion: 1.) A study is a study and not a guest room. You have to decide. (If there is enough space, an extendable sofa or a daybed or simply free space for an inflatable bed can be provided in the study. Otherwise, it is a study and guests then sleep in the living room or at the hotel. Our resources are limited, we can’t have everything.) 2.) We plan two floors, and there should be a toilet on each floor (just like almost every floor plan nowadays). We don’t need a second shower on the ground floor. We save these costs and space. No one has to clean a shower that doesn’t exist. Any visiting guests possibly shower/bathe in the (only full) bathroom upstairs. 3.) There are four of us and we plan only one bathroom with shower/toilet/sink. Plus a “guest” toilet on the ground floor. We see no problem at all. In the rental apartment there is only one toilet and only one tub. By coincidence, though, the rooms are separate here. We also have no guest room in the rental apartment, but a study (there is no space there for a sofa bed). This can be judged differently if guests are regularly hosted. But in my opinion, most people don’t really do that. In about 20 years one or two children’s rooms will become “free”. Bedroom, of course.

We have now decided against the dressing room after all. So the two skylights are out, because (as in the children's rooms) a large window will be placed on the side.

Yes, the study should occasionally also serve as a guest room, but only for relatives and rather rarely. Otherwise, I see it exactly as Bieber0815 does. As long as there is only one child, the room would be used more as a playroom anyway and I would set up my study in one of the children's rooms. As soon as the second child moves into the children's room, I will then set up my work area downstairs. We also do not see the room as a pure "study," but as an additional room for a work area, sleeping possibilities for guests, and storage for toys (since at first, playing will mainly happen in the living area and later, when the children are older, in their own rooms).

And the fact that the four of us then have "only" one shower is really not a problem in my opinion. As already mentioned, we had two showers at home, although the shower on the ground floor was really never used.

But that just shows again what kind of "problems" we have here. In other countries, there are people who are happy if they can wash themselves at all, and here we complain that it is not okay to share a shower with guests *shakes head*.

So... since the last post here in the forum, I have only been a silent reader, but I still want to briefly report regarding the costs before moving into our house. I was already told that we wouldn’t make the costs, and I had promised Yvonne in a post on the previous page that I would give feedback.

We will move in in 3 weeks and the last work is currently being completed. A few invoices will still come in, but the amounts are already known.
Overall, we have stayed slightly under our budget with just under €245,000 for the house including ancillary construction costs.
This even includes the painting work done by ourselves (paint and other materials), which were not calculated at the beginning. Additionally, some extras were added during the construction phase, so some trades became more expensive than originally calculated. Fortunately, other trades were cheaper than previously assumed.
Including the land (€60,000) and a new kitchen for €9,500, we will now move into our new home for a total of around €315,000.
What will still follow are the exterior facilities, for which we are calculating another approx. €15,000.

We are really looking forward to moving in!

Thank you very much for your feedback regarding the construction costs. I think it's good that there are still such positive results overall. I hope that the quality has not suffered because of it.
You will surely be happy in your house - you were quite down-to-earth with your wishes. By the way, I sometimes wish now that we had a door from the office to the living room. That was not possible due to lack of space. But I find the proximity to the rest of the family quite nice when sitting at the PC. The few guests per year can also be led through the living room and upstairs to the bathroom.
Nevertheless, I do not like the slanted walls.
Good luck in your new home!
