Poor equipment, price/performance?

Hello everyone,

I am currently gathering the components for our bathroom and somehow the prices always shock me. I have now looked online at Reuter. A double washbasin with a cabinet underneath, without faucets, doesn’t go below 1200 euros, and that’s without a bathtub, mirror cabinet, or anything else...

I have now found other offers online that are sometimes 50% below the price of well-known suppliers.

What are your experiences? Are cheap (not cheap-quality) items also good, and where could one get advice in Munich without being sold the most expensive option right away?

Thanks

I think that is hard to answer. More price = more quality. But I think you can also be happy with a sink from Praktiker. Buy what you can afford.

The background of your question might still be important to be able to classify it accordingly. Was the supplier specified by the builder? Are you planning to set up your bathroom by yourself?

Hello everyone,

no, delivery is not predetermined. We are working with architects and are currently collecting offers. The installer would now like concrete projects from us. And for our own price orientation, we have looked around a bit.

Regarding quality, I wouldn’t say that more price equals more quality. I just have a problem spending a handy 1200-1300 euros without fittings for a base cabinet with a large washbasin on top from the brand manufacturer.

The cheap internet offers for 450 euros (they really exist) are also not acceptable. For a cabinet (1.30m wide) with 2 individual washbasins on top with fittings, I’m also putting down 1000 euros. That’s doable if it’s something decent. But where do you find something like that?

Hello! In our previous condominium, the toilet, sink, and bathtub were from the hardware store – and the first thing that caused problems were the really expensive Hans-Grohe fixtures from the specialty store. Also: if you ever drop your aftershave in the morning, it stays affordable. Bathroom furniture that is good and inexpensive, I haven't found yet either! Reuter is great for getting an overview. The local sanitary specialty store here (which also sells to private customers) offers much better prices. Best regards, Tomtom.

Hello,

Unfortunately, that does happen sometimes – mostly when it’s the cheap hardware store stuff – but Grohe has excellent customer service and often takes care of many things out of goodwill.

By the way, washbasins bought from specialist retailers endure such accidents much better.

There are several options … a Swedish furniture store currently has very nice and affordable bathroom furniture in its catalog. The well-known furniture stores always run very attractive special offers during model changes, and there are also smaller franchisees who have a name including Bettstatt.

This provider is not really cheap either – except during model changes – because it publishes the final customer prices on its website. As a result, the local specialist retailer is always cheaper. In addition, depending on the order volume, they can not only get better purchase prices but also offer more attractive sales prices to the customer.

And … when the local specialist retailer is supported, it’s beneficial for the region in many ways and also for you as a customer in case of emergency, which usually happens on Sundays and public holidays.

Kind regards
